There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it is about to become a gorgeous butterfly!
Have you ever watched a caterpillar’s transformation into a beautiful butterfly? I have shared a URL for one at the end of this post. You can see the phases a caterpillar will go through to become a beautiful butterfly with colorful wings. It is a miracle!
First it is in the egg. Then it is a funny-looking caterpillar which you would never guess it would become a gorgeous butterfly. Because like Fuller said there is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it is going to be a butterfly. However, it does transform to a beautiful butterfly.
The caterpillar eats a lot of leaves. It is like a machine which keeps inhaling leaves. After some time it hangs upside down from a leave or a tree and the transformation called metamorphosis begins.
After a lot of struggle, which you can watch at the URL given at the bottom of this post, it stays motionless for about two weeks. And during these two weeks, a fully grown butterfly is ready inside the shell to start a new life.
This process made me think about what we humans have in common with butterflies. Don’t we go through a lot of transformation during our lives, changes, and struggles to become who we dream to become? And most of the time there is nothing in us that would tell who we would become, just like in a caterpillar. Technically, every hardship we go through makes us stronger and is expected to lead us to become a better human being.
When we are at the beginning of our career, we are like a caterpillar. Instead of leaves, we need to feed ourselves with experiences, skills, knowledge and information. The input of new information everyday shapes our personality as a human being. The more positive and useful information we digest, the better personality we develop. And our entire life is a metamorphosis. There is no destination; it is all one long journey. Along the journey, we transform so many times – every time with a purpose to become just a little better. Inch by inch. Step by step! One transformation after another!
We emerge into society as a human being with our own beautiful “wings” – our knowledge, our personality, our distinguishing qualities and unique traits. So, next time when you go through a hardship, keep this in mind: it is just a part of your life. You are going to become a better human being, like a caterpillar which becomes a butterfly with outrageous beauty.
And, remember, in the beginning, there is nothing in a caterpillar that tells it is going to become a butterfly. (Watch the transformation here)
